Altruistic surrogacy involves a well-regulated medical and legal process, typically including the following steps:

1. Eligibility and Counseling

Both the intended parents and the surrogate undergo psychological and medical evaluation. Emotional readiness, legal awareness, and family support are assessed to ensure a smooth journey.

2. Matching with a Surrogate

The surrogate is usually a close relative or a known individual who meets the government’s legal requirements, including age, marital status, and health conditions.

3. Legal Framework

A legal agreement is signed between the intended parents and the surrogate. The contract includes rights, responsibilities, and terms of care, in compliance with Indian law.

4. IVF Procedure

• The intended mother’s or donor’s eggs and the intended father’s or donor’s sperm are fertilized through IVF.
• The resulting embryo is transferred to the surrogate’s uterus.
• Throughout the pregnancy, the surrogate receives regular medical care and support.

5. Pregnancy & Delivery

The surrogate is monitored by experienced obstetricians for prenatal care and delivery. After birth, the baby is handed over to the intended parents as per the legal agreement.
